Day trip to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

It's bit hard to believe this kind of nature reserve still there in city country like Singapore. It was given us mentally relaxness and enjoyable moments. It gave us the feeling that we were more towards nature while we are walking through the reserve.

Sungei Buloh was first opened as a Nature Park in 1993. In 2002, 130 hectares were officially gazetted as a Nature Reserve and renamed Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve to better reflect its status. In the same year, it was recognised as a site of international importance for migratory birds and awarded a certificate by Wetlands International, marking the reserve's formal entry into the East Asian Australasian Shorebird Site Network, which includes Australia's Kakadu National Park, China's Mai Po – Inner Deep Bay and Japan's Yatsu Tidal Flats. And in 2003, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve became Singapore's first ASEAN Heritage Park.

Arriving there

This was an unplanned  day tripe which decided at last minute.  Its worth to travel this kind of nature reserve in busy schedule in Singapore. "Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve" situated near to woodlands checkpoint in North border of Singapore. If you are travelling from public transportation easyest wat to arrive there would be taking MRT to "Kranji" station and then take the "925" bus from MRT station. It would be 15 min bus ride from Kranji MRT station and just two minutes walk from "Kranji Reservoir Pk B"  bus stop to reserve.

Places to see

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Visitor Centre

This is the place we started our journey in the reserve. Its gave us basic information such as places we can go inside the reserve, little bit history of the reserve, different animal species we can see inside the reserve and the routes we can choose etc. It also cconsist with Galaery

Mangrove Boardwalk

It was a wonderful experience to join a mangrove board-walk at this place since we would be engaged in close contact with wild animals like squirrels, monkeys (of various types), birds, etc. You can also watch fishes at close distance like right under your feet.

We spotted couple of crocodiles during our visit and which make most of visitors excited to see animal freely moving around the reserve.

Aerie Tower

This is one of favorite spot of Bird watches where they can spot birds from about 50 meters from ground level.

Dragonfly Pod and Observation Pod

I would say this are the two of most crowded places in the reserve. Specially with young people try to take different angels of picture of these two pods. Its really Instagram worthy place.

Wild Animals

Definitely you can engage with lot of wild animals inside the Reserve.

Conclusion

I would say its good place to visit for day tour to experience nature around us and to ease our busy day today schedules. It brings our mind in to another state where gave the feeling of calmness.
